President Muhammadu Buhari makes historic decision to confer Chief M. K. O ABIOLA posthumously as GCFR and declaring June 12th as official democracy day in Nigeria.

June 12, 1993 election is adjudged to be the most credible in the history of elections in Nigeria. The election was cancelled military Head of State, General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida who also took M.K.O into detention where finally died on July 7, 1998.

President Buhari made this declaration to honour the late "father of democracy" Chief M.K.O Abiola with the title of Grand Commander Of The Federal Republic (GCFR) in a statement released to the press and in series of tweets.



Nigerians on social media are reacting to this historic move by the President as the nation draws closer to another general elections.
