Demolished LSDPC Flat Owners Laments

Thursday, 12th/April/2018

The LSDPC flats owners are appealing to the Ambode government to please relocate them for the LSDPC flats they purchased from them which they demolished for the Agege Bridge. They expected the government to have relocated them to other government housing before the demolition, but since they did not do that and decided to demolish the place and threw them out with no considerations for their survival.

Among the flats owner are aged people, widows, retired civil servant and even orphan… it has been more than three (3) Months now that this houses had been demolished and yet the flat owners are not relocated.

Most of these people used their severance payment to buy the house while even used mortgage finance and some on instalments  and they are aged, and with believed that if housing issue is removed from someone pains, then the pain is less.

Interviews with some affected resident and one of them who spoke in his native dialect (Yoruba) said: “We have voted for Ambode the now Governor of Lagos state to make life better for us and not to make it meaningless. We urge the Governor to come to our aid and bail us out of this injustice meted on us by his people.”

The effected resident of LSDPC owners lamented, that the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Abiola Anifowoshe held stakeholders’ meetings with owners of the affected property and assured them of adequate compensation in Jan. 2018.

Sadly the Lagos State government has not started any relocation of the displaced residents of the Ijaiye Low-cost Housing Estate.
